Past exhibitions

November 10, 2023 – January 10, 2024

Amsterdam Artspace – presenting THE WORLD NEEDS MORE FLOWERS & BIRDS including tapestries from The Seasons and The Art of Living Together, alongside my voordekunst crowdfunding and digital preview of new work.

“Most tropical flowers are colourful and have long tubular calyx full of sugary nectar. These plants have customized and adjusted their shape and size for the beaks of local sunbirds, to be exclusively available for them. Sunbirds also feed on all the insects that visit the flower, and this helps in protecting the flower from being eaten: mutualistic symbiosis.”

July – September 2023

Rossana Orlandi Gallery, Sardinia – presented two tapestries Sunbirds & Tropical Flowers 2.0 and Autumn Forest. On this photo Autumn Forest by Tjitske StormFlowers in Waiting by Matteo CibicCoral Collection by FeUse

“Once there will be a time when the aged autumn leaves are falling from the sage trees,
voluminous flowers are waiting to bloom in the plentiful gardens of earth,
and the Universe is celebrating a long awaited recovery of curvaceous corals,
within the depths of the sea.” TS

Rossana Orlandi Gallery, Milan – presented seven tapestries from The Art of Living Together and The Seasons. Photo Uppix

“The Art of Living Together is my signature collection of limited-edition tufted and woven tapestries. I’ve found the inspiration for the concept when traveling in Angola and South-Africa. The artworks are conceptually and visually translating my fascination for evolution and the natural phenomenon of symbiosis. The interaction between different species is emphasized through the correlation of the geometric and the organic, the abstract and the detailed, the digital and the tactile, the East and the West, the North and the South, and the old and the new. Dissimilar worlds that smoothly collide, interact and enforce each other.”

Artemis Hotel – presented Twelve Lights from my collection Circle of Life, inspired by Art Deco luxury, Sanskrit mandalas and the diversity of life. Part of the group exhibition Light & Dark at the Artemis Hotel Amsterdam, 2013. Photo Joost Van Der Neut

The word mandala means circle in Sanskrit. A mandala is a symbol of the universe in its ideal form, and its creation signifies the transformation of a universe of suffering into one of joy. They are also used as an aid for meditation, inspiration and inner wisdom.”
