Human Nature

Human Nature is my ongoing series inspired by the all-encompassing force of evolution and its emotional reciprocity. Woven stories wherein the rich natural world fluently intertwines with complex human behaviour. Born from my fascination for psychological, cultural and societal patterns, I explore the (mytho) logical roots of these behaviours within nature itself. A search for acceptable explanations for the mostly chaotic path as it happens.

Abundant celebrations of blossoming beauty comprise contrasting realms while translating the fragility of life. The desired transition of current times is accentuated by shifting toxicity towards compassion, ego towards us, darkness towards light and fear towards love. In all of this, we are only human nature.

From digital to tactile

For each work I selected around 200 images and then cut-out, re-colored, adjusted and merged elements of these images to create the blossoming composition. Thereafter I translated the complex multi-layered digital artwork to Jacquard fabric by implementing various weaving techniques while keeping in mind the Jacquard weaving method built up from eight colors only. The yarns are made from (Mercerized) Cotton and NewLife® Polyester and the Jacquard weaving is done within a sustainable textile production.
For the optional version I added more 3D-effects and some sparks through hand-embroidery and beading. All these works can be framed on an invisible wooden stretcher-frame.

Tall Poppy

when the fear remains to follow

false rivers of stagnant blood,

no flower can rise her shoulders

instead she falls caged within

when the soil of the earth beneath the sea

is endlessly enriched with compassion and love,

fragile flowers for ever more rise ‘bove ground level

so all butterflies flutter and fly in full swing
