Autumn Forest
The Seasons is my colourful ode to the beauty and the diversity of nature, while interpreting the inevitable change within our life. My time spend in South Africa and the subsequent Covid period in the Frisian countryside were main sources of inspiration for the concept, colourschemes and choice of elements.
Four photographic assemblages are translated into highly detailed Jacquard tapestries, expressing the distinct feelings and flourishings of the both literally and metaphorical seasons Spring Field, Summer Garden, Autumn Forest and Winter Sleep. Abundant flowers, plants, birds, insects and butterflies are flowing, blossoming and intermingling into a harmonious symbiosis between the fluid organic and the abstract graphic.
From digital to tactile
For Autumn Forest I selected, re-colored, altered and adjusted various elements of more than 100 images and photos to create the bursting composition. I translated this digital artwork to Jacquard woven textile using various weaving techniques. The yarns are from NewLife® Polyester and all is made within a sustainable textile production in Europe.
